Certified Valuation Analyst

The Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) is internationally the most distinguished and widely recognised business valuation credential, known for the superb training and challenging examination process that leads to earning this prestigious credential. Through rigorous testing, CVAs demonstrate they are qualified to provide capable and professionally executed valuation services. AACVA requires training as a prerequisite to certification to assure that practitioners have the knowledge and understanding necessary to perform competent services, and to assure a level of consistency and continuity in their work product. Users of valuation services benefit by having greater confidence that the service they receive is professional in quality, adheres to industry standards of practice, and meets a level of expertise the Association deems credible and worthy of one of its certified members.

The training of CVA is intended for all professional groups that perform professional opinions. These include tax, audit, and accounting services practitioners, merger and acquisition consultants, investment and financial analysts, investment bankers, financial officers, business advisors, chief finance officers, accounting, government regulators, tax authorities, or asset trustees/managers.

Step 1 CVA Training Week
The CVA-training week (Mon-Fri), a five-day training programme, is taught by credentialed business valuation training experts in a workshop atmosphere. Before the training week, candidates will receive copies of the training materials upon full payment of the fees together with a sample examination. At the beginning of the training week, candidates will be given the study materials on CD-ROM.

Step 2 CVA Examination
The CVA examination consists of two parts and is generally taken within 180 days after completion of the CVA-training week. Both parts of the examination must be passed. Each part of the CVA examination can be repeated more than twice.

The CVA examination consists of a four-hour written multiple choice test. The written test can either be taken immediately after the training week (Sat) or at a later date.

Step 3 submit sanitised business valuation report
The applicant shall submit for grading an actual sanitised (so as to protect your and your client’s identities) valuation report prepared in the last twelve months. The sanitised business valuation report must be submitted within 60 days of taking the examination.
